Dave sat at his desk tapping his pen against his paper. There he was staring from his apartment window to the other apartment window staring at a girl who was at the window. Well, let’s just say that girl is you.
As of right now you are sitting in the apartment across from Dave and currently trying to focus on your homework. It’s been a couple days since the incident of the cafeteria and no one has bothered you since. You tried to focus on your homework but it was hard when he kept staring at you. There’s no helping it. You sighed and rubbed your forehead leaning on your desk disappearing from Dave’s gaze. You turned your head, your cheek being smushed against the table. This wasn’t going good so far, since every day, every evening while the sun sets, he would just stare at you. I mean, he couldn’t have a crush on you could he?
Dave’s too cool for that.
He’s probably just trying to watch over you.
Little did you know your friend John Egbert comes in silently through the door. He creeps up silently smiling to himself. You rubbed your head in frustration on the table not knowing John had come in.
John made it to the back of your chair and leaned over silently, near your ear.
“BOO!” He yelled scaring the practical shit out of you.
“HOLY MOTHER DEAR GOD-“ You cursed jumping up in your chair to whirl around to see John grinning evilly at you.
“John you idiot! Scared me half to death!” You breathed a relief and laughing holding your arms out for a hug.
John smiled, his buckteeth showing as he embraced you. “Aww [Name], missed you too! Rose and Jade sends their hellos and kisses by the way.”
You chuckled and hugged him tighter, digging your face into his chest. He wrapped his arms around you and looked out at the window seeing Dave almost snap his pen in frustration. John smirked at Dave and snuggled you closer to him, teasing Dave. You couldn’t see, but Dave’s face grew red and he threw up his hands as he disappeared from the window probably to blow off some steam.
You let go of John smiling brightly along with him smiling at you too.
John punched you softly in the arm grinning. “Hey there, now I’m here I’ll go help your parents cook some dinner, ‘kay? Don’t get too lonely without me!”
You waved your hand dismissively and laughed. “Don’t worry about me! Go help yourself Egbert!” You patted his shoulder and shooed him out of your room. You turned back to your desk smiling and went back to your homework not realizing Dave was back staring at you again.
Dave grabbed at his hair in frustration from seeing that scene with you and John.
That little shit!
John knew Dave had the biggest crush on you and most of the time it showed quite too much. Dave knocked his head against the wall of his room and grinding his head against it in anger. John just had to do that, get so close to you first rather than him! It made Dave boil with anger. He clenched his teeth for awhile before breathing a sigh and calming down to sit back on his desk. It didn’t make sense that you and him always were with each other but never going farther than being friends.
Dave sighed and put his hands on face drowning in his thoughts as he continued to look towards your window. Every night, without doing it on purpose, he thought of you. Your smile, your laugh and everything. He loved it all about you.
But Dave couldn’t bring himself to tell you at all.
He groaned in frustration and saw you were smiling to yourself as you were sitting on your desk. He put his chin in the palm of his head for a second thinking what he should do. Spying his desk, he checked his phone and woke it up. Seeing he had your number he decided to give you a call…
Your phone rang, the screen lighting up brightly next to your hand. Without checking the caller ID you quickly snatched up the phone and pressed the answer button.
“Hello?” You said into the phone, turning around in your swivel chair, your back against the window.
“Uh…Hi [Name],” Dave quickly said.
“Oh, hi Dave. What’s up?” You asked swinging your legs as you slouched in your chair.
“Uh nothing much just wanted to see if everything was alright.”
You laughed out loud making Dave jump a bit. “Dave I’m fine. Nothing is going to get your ‘sister from another mister’ into trouble again. From your staring observations I think you can suspect I’m doing fine. And thanks for the check up, it’s very…sweet of you Dave.”
You still had your back turned away from the window where Dave was looking at you. He blushed and rubbed his jaw trying to fight off his feelings. “You seriously need to stop using those corny lines, they’re practically driving me insane [Name]. You should really come back with better ones before I barge over to your house and start doing some of my sick rhymes.”
“Oh no! Not your lame ass raps! My poor ears!” You teased giggling a bit.
“Oh hell [Name], you know you love it.”
You burst out laughing, “My god D-Stri, you are impossible!”
“You know you love it, I know you do.”
“Pfft fine, your raps ARE pretty cool.” You rolled your eyes and swiveled back, playing with one of the pens on your desk.
“Oh so you finally admit it huh? Took ya’ long enough.”
“Fine fine. Wait let’s change topic I’m a bit interested in what you have to say about yourself Strider.” You wiggled your eyebrows and looked at him across the apartment slyly.
“Lay it on me [Name].”
“So eager! Okay well, I’ve been wondering,” You turned around again smiling to yourself, “Is there a girl you have on mind? I’ve been hearing you’ve been having a ‘flush-crush’ lately as the charming lady Terezi herself puts it.”
You kept your back turned smiling and playing with a lock of your hair. You couldn’t see (Of Course) that Dave had completely turned red and silent; his freckles could be seen almost a mile away.
You giggled, “Dave? What’s wrong, you can tell me!”
Dave’s mouth gapped open and closed like a fish out of water as he tried to find what words to say. “N-not yet, haven’t found a girl yet.”
You gave a pouty face, “Really? That’s such a shame. I’ve thought you would have found a girl by now, heard the lot saying you’ve had a long list of names on your list of Girls-I-Laid.” You snickered, knowing Dave never really ‘got down’ with someone but had a couple girlfriends before he met you.
He cleared his throat and pulled at his collar. “Uh, nope I’m looking for a new love. I’ve got my eye on someone. Sorta’ hoping you’d give me help on it too.”
You raised an eye, still turned away from Dave. “And the ‘Sick Master of all Things On This Chunk of Rock’ finally asks for MY help? I’m surprised Strider, thought you had it all down.”
“W-well, sometimes masters need a little perspective on things.” He murmured into the phone.
“Oh I see we’re stuttering now here?” You laughed playfully, “Okay fine fine, I’ll stop being the bully. May I guess who this is for though?”
“I don’t think you would get it at all since you’re such an idiot and all.”
“BAH!” You shouted putting and swiveling the chair back, “I’m no idiot! And let me take a guess who this oh-so-wonderful girl is…” You smiled and tapped your chin, “Perhaps Jade Harley? She’s quite the catch if you must know.”
Ouch, way to go you, what were you doing spouting crap to him about this?
Dave was silent for a while before responding, “Hmm, why should I give you any hints? You’ll never get it anyway.” He smiled slightly, making you even more flustered.
“Fine cool kid! I’ll help you after dinner,” You paused for a moment before adding, “And maybe when you’re doing staring at me for the day!” And with that, you ended the call and stood up at your desk. You stuck your tongue out at him and closed the window, obscuring the view of yourself from him.
Dave leaned back in his chair.
Was he going to rule this.
